The peplum trend is everywhere at the moment! From the catwalks, to the high street, to your local Wetherspoon's on a Saturday night... it's fast becoming the most popular fashion item of Spring 2012! Designers such as Vera Wang, Jason Wu & Yves Saint Laurent have all featured them in their Ready-to-Wear Spring 2012 collections. It was a rather noticeable celebrity trend on the Met Gala red carpet recently as well. With January Jones, Eva Mendes & Solange Knowles all opting for peplum style gowns...

I didn't go out looking for a peplum top, I seem to buy into current trends unintentionally. I picked mine up from Primark the other week simply because the bright lime green caught my eye, it was a bargainous £8.00, it didn't look like it was going to fall apart after the first wear and I somehow managed to fit into the size 6!! They say you tend to go back to the shops where you're a smaller size, which is known as vanity sizing. Apparently the clothing industry cottoned on to the fact women are more likely to shop at the stores in which they're a smaller size, tricking us into wanting to shop their more frequently. Clever huh?! I'm not a fool though, I know my measurements and I know i'm generally a size 8 on top (small titties) & a size 10 on the bottom (big booty) but I must admit, I did walk out the changing rooms with a spring in my step when I discovered the size 8 was too big for me!

I definitely think i'll be purchasing more peplum style garments over the spring/summer as I think the ladylike silhouette compliments my figure. They're also perfect for women with a more boyish figure, as the peplum shape really accentuates your hips.

I love my little Primark gem, as it also touches on the sports luxe & bright colours trends which will be huge during the spring/summer! Can't go wrong with 3-in-1 trends for 8 quid can you!
