Getting back into the swing of things!

I've been massively slacking when it comes to blogging as of late, mainly due to working a full time job, and being so shattered that when I get home all I wanna do is sleep! But my Winter resolution is to start blogging more, start drawing again and possibly taking up a hobbie... will keep you updated on how this goes.

Anyway, I thought i'd get the blogging ball rolling with an Instagram post, as i'm forever uploading pictures on there (these pictures aren't in time order, which is why my hair changes from pink to blonde and back again)...

Style Birmingham Live 2012

I was lucky enough to be invited along to 'The Show: Enchanted' as part of Style Birmingham Live on Saturday the 29th of September,  hosted by one of my TOWIE faves Lydia Bright. The day got off to a pretty manic start, it was one of those where you think you have hours to spare and before you know it you're charging through Birmingham like a runaway bride! We made it there in time looking rather flushed and sweaty, but luckily I had my MAC Fix+ in my handbag to quickly refresh my sweaty face... thank the heavens for Fix+!

It's the first event i've attended through my blog, which made it extra special and exciting! The show was fabulous from start to finish, the fairy-tale theme was beautifully done and the styling was on point, showcasing all the hottest new A/W '12 high-street styles. I'm a big fan of jewels and embellishments (I was definitely a magpie in a former life), so I love it when the Holiday season comes around and the shops get all their sparkly party frocks in. The show didn't disappoint my inner magpie, there were some lovely sparkly numbers, as well as lots of tweed, lace, velvet and edgy-tailoring. I spyed an pair of amazing gun metal Dr Martens I will be adding to my Christmas list fo' sho!

Emma Watson was recently slated for daring to wear a dress and trousers combo on the red carpet, but this was a strong look on the Style Birmingham catwalk (see below). Skirt and pants, or 'spants' as I preferred to call them back in the day, were a staple in my wardrobe back in the Nineties. I began feeling rather nostalgic around this point...

I spent a lot of the show gasping in awe at the models hair and make-up, it really was done beautifully. I don't think i've seen so much crimped hair since my year 7 school disco! I could definitely see it becoming a popular style around Christmas and New Year. The make-up was in an absolute league of it's own though! Illmasqua's Adam John created strong embellished brows and lips using lots of gems and chunky glitter. This is a look I would absolutely love to try and translate into a more subtle & wearable evening look.

Overall, the show was fabulous! I loved every minute of it and would like to say a big thanks to Emma & my lovely friend Lola from The Bullring team for inviting me! :)

If you live in the Birmingham area i'd highly recommend snapping up a ticket to any future Style Birmingham shows!
