Selfridges SS13 Trend Presentation

I was very kindly invited to the Selfridges Birmingham Bloggers Event last week, which I was told would include three of my favourite things EVER - fashion, food & beauty. Needless to say I was very excited! I went along to the event with my friend Lola (who's blog you can check out here), and got chatting to lots of other lovely bloggers whilst I was there. They were such a nice bunch of girls, so sweet and welcoming, and because i'm new to these sorts of events it's always nice when you get chatting to really friendly, like-minded people. We were treated to a glass of champers on arrival up on the 4th floor of the store and given a presentation of all the key trends of SS13. Some trends to look out for if you want to stay ahead of the fash pack are - geometric prints, shiny & sheer fabrics, and masculine meets feminine; with trouser suits making a huge comeback! Also, the trends replacing colour-blocking in SS13 are going to be monocrome and tangerine. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about wearing head-to-toe tangerine though, that might be one I have to miss...!

I actually think I preferred the Menswear SS13 trends more, which isn't unusual for me, as i'm quite partial to a browse around Topman every now and again. The three that stood out to me from Menswear were 'Luxury Street' - which immediately made me think of Ashish. 'The Print Maker' was another key trend I liked the idea of, as i'm from a print designing background and love bold prints on clothing. Then last but not least of my faves was 'Fabric: Shine On' - which suits me perfectly as i'm a total magpie and love anything shiny/glittery! The metallic Acne jacket (shown below) paired with a pair of simple blue denim jeans would be the perfect item for anyone wanting to wear this trend but in a slightly more dressed down way.

My outfit for the event...

Fur collar: H&M | Leather Jacket: Topshop | Mermaid-esque Disco Pants: Motel | Converse: ASOS | Bag: Mulberry

I would absolutely love Santa to bring me a Diego with rose gold hardware for Christmas!

We had a delicious curry at Ithiaas; where I tried Paneer (Indian cheese) for the first time. It has the same sort of consistency of Halloumi, which is probably why I loved it!

Can you believe these Primark Christmas jumpers are Selfridges best-sellers?! Mental!

My favourite thing from the tour of the store we were given has to be House of Holland's latest collection; especially the little Pom-Pom characters on the shirt below! They're just too cute! This is what I love about HH, he is always playful with his clothing, whether it's his hosiery line or his high-end catwalk collections, he always brings that element of fun to his designs.

I spent a little bit of time drooling over Wildfox knits...

I then finished the evening off with a radiance lesson at YSL. The Touche Éclat foundation is fabulous!

The Bull has been dressed like Rudolph for the festive season...

I had an absolutely fabulous evening, and would like to say a big thanks to Selfridges Birmingham & The Bullring for putting on such a brilliant event! I was so pleased with the goodie bag we were given at the end of the night, which included a 'Folli-Follie' bracelet! I've already demolished the champers and chocolate... obvs.

Lorra love,
