Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick Review

...and so my MAC Lipstick addiction continues. I just cannot help myself can I! I'd been eyeing up the Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick since first seeing a picture of it online back in December, but was completely put off when I first tried it on in the MAC store a few weeks ago. I was having a bad face day, so it probably wasn't the best time to try a new lippy on. As it's cool-toned I felt like it made my teeth look really yellow, and my face look extra pale. I was not impressed at first try! But I went back at the weekend with a bit of fake tan on, tried it on again and ended up loving it! It's definitely more of a 'going-out' kinda lippy; certainly not something i'll be wearing to work or when doing my weekly shop at the local Sainsbury's! It's described by MAC as a 'vivid pastel lavender pink' with an Amplified finish. It's a definite marmite shade... it certainly won't be for everyone; but if you're on the market for a stand-out lippy then this might tickle your fancy. I was so happy when I first heard Nicki was next in line to replace Gaga as the Viva Glam spokesperson, as I couldn't be further from a nude lippy girl if I tried. Knowing Nicki's crazy Barbie-esque persona & style I knew i'd love her lipstick shades. I absolutely loved & still do love Viva Glam Nicki 1, the flamingo pink is totes my kinda thaaang! This new one is definitely growing on me, but I don't have that same instant love I had for the first shade. Maybe if I get my teeth whitened and go for a 6 minute holiday then I might change my mind?! ;)

Viva Glam is a great cause! It's not one of those 'buy this and 10 pence will go to charity' types of things, it's the full RRP (less VAT) which will go to the MAC AIDS Fund - helping women, men & kids everywhere affected by HIV & AIDS. Definitely more of a incentive to treat yourself to a lippy!

It appears to be quite sheer upon first application, but it's buildable if you want more of an opaque look. It's not at all drying due to it's satin finish, and although it looks quite similar to Saint Germain in colour, it doesn't stain your lips like Saint Germain does. I always find that even after i've scrubbed my lips with a face wipe i'm still left with a dark purpley-pink after colour when i've been wearing Saint Germain. Tres annoying! Viva Glam Nicki 2 (buy here) is limited edition, and will set you back £14 (US $15... we drew the short straw yet again! Bliddy rip-off or whuuut!). FYI it's 3 g / 0.1 US oz like the regular MAC lipsticks.

What are your thought's on the latest Viva Glam Nicki? Do you prefer it to it's predecesscor?

  1. I prefer the first one, it was THE first ever MAC lippy I bought. You're far cooler than me, so you pull it off really well! I might have to try it if I get chance, but I reckon I'll look like a right tosser!

  2. I love this! I wish it would suit me, I've dyed my hair darker so more lipsticks will suit me but unfortunately I'm too pale for this one. I have been thinking about getting the first one or the lipglass version though :)
I totally thought the last image was a carpet haha x
